Welcome to Buffalo Ridge Resort & Business Center! We’re happy you’re here! Nestled on the edge of Lake Elsie, in charming Gary, South Dakota, Buffalo Ridge Resort is a historic property which has been beautifully restored. Our campus is surrounded by mature oak trees, small town charm, and a rich history dating back to 1872. Buffalo Ridge Resort was once home to South Dakota’s first School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The property still retains much of its historical appeal, including a unique system of underground tunnels. The tunnels were built so the students could travel from one building to another in the event of inclement weather.
The Herrick Hotel and Woodbury Hall, once the campus dormitories and classrooms, have been completely renovated and restored. Today these buildings are used for lodging, as well as a variety of business and social events. The Administration Building, aka “The Admin”, once housing classrooms and teacher lodging, is now home to meeting space, offices, and our unique family suite, the Retreat.
At Buffalo Ridge Resort & Business Center, you’ll discover an amazing blend of past and present with contemporary western allure. Uniquely charming, Buffalo Ridge Resort and Business Center is perfect for business, social, or leisure events. Whether your time is spent resting in the historic Herrick Hotel, meeting with collegues in the Gold Room, sharing a delicious meal in the Rock Room, or strolling our stunning campus, you will be sure to enjoy your time at Buffalo Ridge Resort.
