Buffalo Ridge Resort’s Storied History & More About Our Complex

Welcome to Buffalo Ridge Resort, nestled in on the edge of Lake Elsie in Gary, South Dakota. Buffalo Ridge Resort and Business Center is a historic property which has been beautifully restored and is surrounded by mature oak trees, small town charm, and a rich history dating back to 1872. Buffalo Ridge Resort was once home to South Dakota’s first School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The property still retains much of its historical appeal including a unique system of underground tunnels which were originally used to allow the students to travel from one building to another in the event of inclement weather.

The Herrick Hotel and Woodbury Hall, which were once the campus dormitories, have now been completely renovated and restored. To make reservations call us at 605-272-7777 or click here.
